Periodo: Provincia De Barinas (1808-1821)

Denominacion: 1 Real

Anverso: Barinas (Achaguas o Chipi-Chipi).

VENEZUELA: Fernando VI, 1808-1821, AR real (chipi-chipi) (0.71g), ND, KM-—, central portion of the traditional Spanish American pillar design, with the number 4 in the upper center, the word (…)SVLTR(…) in the center, and the number 04 in the lower section, with the 4 recut over a different number, perhaps 8; there is also the number 84 in a square // simplified arms of Spain, countermarked on the reverse, choice VF, RRR, ex Don Erickson Collection. Somewhat similar to the contemporary imitative issues of the unofficial mint at Caujaral in Barinas province. The "4" at the top of the reverse suggests that the design was taken from a 4 reales cob, and the central reverse legend derived from PLVS VLTRA. Unpublished by Rosenman and Stohr.
